Two sticky pistons, two observers, and a cobblestone tray holding seven buckets of water. The whole thing fits in a 4x4 hole and goes down in about a minute, so it is the one to start with if you have never built a flying machine before.

Forty-four blocks of slime with fourteen sticky pistons shoving it along. This one is about distance rather than volume. It only carries two buckets, but it will keep running in a straight line for as long as the chunks stay loaded.
